World Class Training Prize up for Grabs at WorldSkills 2011
UKSP gives teachers the opportunity to win skills training for their class.
UKSP, the leading information site for careers in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry, will be offering teachers visiting the WorldSkills London 2011 event the chance to win an employment skills training day for their class, giving them an invaluable advantage in today's increasingly tough job market.
The money-can't-buy prize will cover vital employment skills such as customer service and workplace insights, but will also prepare students for the interview process and will give them tips on how to create a positive first impression. The training session is available for a class of students aged 14 – 18 years, and will focus on working in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector, but highlights skills that are relevant for a wide range of customer-facing roles.
A substantial part of the skills session will be the same as that provided for staff and contractors employed to work at the London 2012 Olympics, so the students really will be receiving world class training to set them up for anything from their first Saturday job, to a full-time apprenticeship or a career in the thriving HLTT industry.
To enter the competition, teachers will simply need to visit UKSP at stand no. 49 within the Campus, Education and Training section at WorldSkills at London's ExCeL, running from 5-8 October, and register their class. For teachers bringing along pupils to the event, UKSP will also have a range of activities at their stand to inform and engage visitors, including a quick and fun digital personality test that will help students determine which personality type they are, and therefore which jobs in the HLTT sector they may be best suited to.
The UKSP website is an excellent resource for teachers and careers advisors looking to guide students in training and careers options in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries www.uksp.co.uk
